On 15 January 2025, Royal Decree 10/2025 was published, approving the new National Classification of Economic Activities 2025 (CNAE 2025. This classification replaces the current CNAE 2009 and aims to update and group the economic activities carried out by companies and self-employed workers in Spain, especially for statistical, fiscal and administrative purposes.
The new classification not only modernises the codification of economic activities, but also establishes a direct obligation for companies and the self-employed: before 30 June 2025, the new CNAE coding corresponding to the activity carried out must be communicated to the Social Security..
